You probably haven’t heard of Cinder the legendary fairy.

Neither the Brothers Grimm nor Hans Christian Andersen make any mention of her. J. M. Barrie provides no evidence that she is pals with Tink. Nothing from Charles Perrault.

By the time he wrote The Lord of the Rings, Tolkien had dropped all talk of “fairies” in favor of his more sophisticated elves.
